Hope was that this program was available for me. For survivors [being trafficked], we don't get to experience the things like going home and you open the door and you're safe, opening the refrigerator and there's food, making a decision on your own- it's always fight mode. ... My hope was restored every single day [at HHD], teaching me what life could be.

a story filled with hope
Before coming to HHD, I couldn't see a future for myself. I had lost my sense of self-worth and hope. I felt like my trauma had taken everything from me, including my trust in people.
Since being here, that has started to change. HHD has given me stability, safety, and support when I didn't think any of those things were possible. I'm beginning to feel excited about the future, something I never thought I would say.
Because of this program, I can imagine a life beyond survival. And for the first time in a long time, I believe I deserve that future. This program didn't just help me survive... it helped me start to truly live again.
